Top Ten Golf Christmas Gifts 2014

Every golfer wants something golf related on Christmas! It's the off-season and all you can think about is getting back on the course as soon as possible! To help with the itch, here are some golf related items that would all make awesome Christmas gifts.

Here is the Scotty Cameron Winter Fleece Christmas Headcover! Although not well received within the Cameron Community, this is a very unique headcover! Any of Scotty's headcovers would be an amazing Christmas Gift! Still available on the Scotty Cameron website!
This is a Patrick Gibbons Handmade Genuine Shark Drawstring Pouch. A very awesome accessory to have on the golf course to hold your valuables during play.

Mark your balls with this ball marking device from Tin Cup. Many options to choose from, but I thought this one screamed Christmas!

Just released at the end of October on the Jimmy Fallon Show was this set of Nike Vapor Drivers and Irons. I'm not usually a Nike equipment guy, but these are very eye appealing.

I am the proud owner of one of these Frogger Amphibian Towels. Keep the inside moist and the outside dry to always have clean clubs. If it rains during your match then keep the outside wet and the inside dry to keep your grips dry! Awesome concept!

The Hank Haney Smash Bag is a great trainer to learn to feel the correct ball impact.

Always eye appealing on the course are Scotty Cameron Ball Markers. If you aren't lucky enough to snag one on the website, there are usually plenty on the secondary market of Ebay!
Depending on who your golfing with, some tunes to lighten up the round is always enjoyable. The Klipsch music box provides pure sound during a round. These music boxes are blue-tooth compatible with your smart phone. Makes listening to music on the course easier than ever.
One of the most comfortable shirts I own. The Oakley Miller Golf Polo is high quality, doesn't bunch up during your swing, and looks great!

Last but not least are the new Titleist 915 drivers! Every golfer, bad or good, loves the feeling of a new driver! These drivers have been getting great reviews and would make any golfers Christmas morning a little sweeter!

LAWS OF GOLF

LAWS OF GOLF

LAW 1: No matter how bad your last shot was, you should have Inner Peace knowing that a shi%#ier one is yet to come. This law does not expire on the 18th hole, since it has the supernatural tendency to extend over the course of a tournament, a summer and, eventually, a lifetime.

LAW 2: Your best round of golf will be followed almost immediately by your worst round ever. The probability of the latter increases with the number of people you tell about the former.

LAW 3: Brand new golf balls are water-magnetic. Though this cannot be proved in the lab, it is a known fact that the more expensive the golf ball, the greater its attraction to water. Expensive clubs have been known to be partly made with this most unusual natural alloy.

LAW 4: Golf balls never bounce off of trees back into play. If one does, the tree is breaking a law of the universe and should be cut down.

LAW 5: The higher a golfer's handicap, the more qualified he deems himself as an instructor.

LAW 6: A golfer hitting into your group will always be bigger than anyone in your group. Likewise, a group you accidentally hit into will consist of a football player, a professional wrestler, a convicted murderer and an IRS agent -- or some similar combination.

LAW 7: All 3-woods are demon-possessed. Your Mother in Law does not come close.

LAW 8: Golf balls from the same "sleeve" tend to follow one another, particularly out of bounds or into the water. See LAW 3.

LAW 9: The last three holes of a round will automatically adjust your score to what it really should be.

LAW 10: Golf should be given up at least twice per month.

LAW 11: All vows taken on a golf course shall be valid only until the sunset.

LAW 12: Since bad shots come in groups of three, your fourth consecutive bad shot is really the beginning of the next group of three.

LAW 13: If it isn't broke, try changing your grip.

LAW 14: It's surprisingly easy to hole a 50-foot putt when you're lying 8.

LAW 15: Counting on your opponent to inform you when he breaks a rule is like expecting him to make fun of his own haircut.

LAW 16: Nonchalant putts count the same as chalant putts.

LAW 17: It's not a gimme if you're still 4 feet away.

LAW 18: The shortest distance between any two points on a golf course is a straight line that passes directly through the center of a very large tree.

LAW 19: You can hit a 2-acre fairway 10% of the time, and a 2-inch branch 90% of the time.

LAW 20: Every time a golfer makes a birdie, he must subsequently make a double or triple bogey to restore the fundamental equilibrium of the universe.

LAW 21: If you want to hit a 7-iron as far as Tiger Woods does, simply try to use it to lay up just short of a water hazard.

LAW 22: There are two things you can learn by stopping your back swing at the top and checking the position of your hands: how many hands you have, and which one is wearing the glove.

LAW 23: A ball you can see in the rough from 50 yards away is not yours.

LAW 24: Don't buy a putter until you've had a chance to throw it.

One day a man decided to retire…

One day a man decided to retire…

He booked himself on a Caribbean cruise and proceeded to have the time of his life, that is, until the ship sank.

He soon found himself on an island with no other people, no supplies, nothing, only bananas and coconuts.

After about four months, he is lying on the beach one day when the most gorgeous woman he has ever seen rows up to the shore.
In disbelief, he asks, "Where did you come from? How did you get here?"

She replies, "I rowed over from the other side of the island where I landed when my cruise ship sank."

"Amazing," he notes. "You were really lucky to have a row boat wash up with you."

"Oh, this thing?" explains the woman. " I made the boat out of some raw material I found on the island. The oars were whittled from gum tree branches. I wove the bottom from palm tree branches, and the sides and stern came from an Eucalyptus tree."

"But, where did you get the tools?"

"Oh, that was no problem," replied the woman. " On the south side of the island, a very unusual stratum of alluvial rock is exposed. I found that if I fired it to a certain temperature in my kiln, it melted into ductile iron and I used that to make tools and used the tools to make the hardware."

The guy is stunned.

"Let's row over to my place," she says "and I'll give you a tour." So, after a short time of rowing, she soon docks the boat at a small wharf. As the man looks to shore, he nearly falls off the boat.
Before him is a long stone walk leading to a cabin and tree house.
While the woman ties up the rowboat with an expertly woven hemp rope, the man can only stare ahead, dumb struck. As they walk into the house, she says casually, "It's not much, but I call it home. Please sit down."

"Would you like a drink?"

"No! No thank you," the man blurts out, still dazed. "I can't take another drop of coconut juice."

"Oh, it's not coconut juice," winks the woman. "I have a still. How would you like a Tropical Spritz?"

Trying to hide his continued amazement, the man accepts, and they sit down on her couch to talk. After they exchange their individual survival stories, the woman announces," I'm going to slip into something more comfortable. Would you like to take a shower and shave? There's a razor in the bathroom cabinet upstairs."

No longer questioning anything, the man goes upstairs into the bathroom. There, in the cabinet is a razor made from a piece of tortoise bone. Two shells honed to a hollow ground edge are fastened on to its end inside a swivel mechanism.

"This woman is amazing," he muses. "What's next?"

When he returns, she greets him wearing nothing but some small flowers on tiny vines, each strategically positioned, she smelled faintly of gardenias. She then beckons for him to sit down
next to her.

"Tell me," she begins suggestively, slithering closer to him, "We've both been out here for many months. You must have been lonely. When was the last time you played around? She stares into his eyes.

He can't believe what he's hearing. "You mean..." he swallows excitedly as tears start to form in his eyes,

Scotty Cameron Christmas Release!

The annual Scotty Cameron Christmas Release went down yesterday and I LOVED IT! The headcovers weren't well recieved from those within The Cameron Collector community and I'm not sure why. They are very unique and scream winter! They aren't so geared to Christmas like past covers with Christmas trees or snowman. I think they have a sharp and classy look. The divot tools I didn't buy, because they don't do much for me. Also the coin I did not purchase because I'm not a big peace sign guy!

The best part of the release in my opinion were the balls!!! Jackpot Johnny made his debut on the Titleist Pro V1 and I think it's a definite collectors item! Purchased both the Pro V1x and Pro V1 dozen!

Can't wait to see what's in store for the 2015 Scotty Cameron Year!

Grip It and Rip It!!!

When I finally decided to take the plunge and start taking golf lessons to improve my game, the first lesson was making sure I had the correct golf grip! I went in having what is called a "weak grip". My golf instructor informed me, "No one on tour has a weak grip."
It took a lot of getting used to changing from a weak grip to a strong grip, but it was a must to get the club face square for me. If you look at the diagram above. The Vs formed between the thumb and forefingers will point to right side of your body with a strong grip, your right ear with a neautral grip, and the left side for a weak grip. Rotate both hands on the handle of the club to the right for a stronger grip. This will feel totally uncomfortable at first, but with lots of practice it will be well worth it.

Not only will the strong grip allow you to square the club face properly, but will also help to generate more speed and power. So if you are struggling with power and getting the club face square, make sure you have the proper grip.

A training device (you will find I love training devices) I found that was helpful with grip is the Matzie Assist Swing Trainger. This club has a grip that puts your hands in the correct place each time you swing. Hope this all helps you improve your grip! GRIP IT AND RIP IT!!!

TaylorMade SLDR Mini Driver vs. Callaway X2Hot 3 Wood

I have been in the market for a 3 wood all season. I just didn't like how my old TaylorMade R5 Fairway Wood was treating me lately. There was probably nothing wrong with the club, but like any golfer I wanted something new to make me feel like I was hitting it better. With the end of the season deals starting at Dick's Sporting Goods, I decided to go demo these two clubs.

I was for sure I would end up with the TaylorMade Mini Driver because I'm partial to TaylorMade Driver and Woods. I decided to test the Callaway X2Hot 3 Wood because it got great reviews and was probably the biggest competitor to the Mini Driver.

The Mini Driver hit very well off the tee for me. Very easy to hit, very forgiving on mishits. What I was really hoping for tho was to be able to hit it well off the deck. This was a struggle for me as a high-handicapper. Even though it's a smaller head than the driver, it is still a larger head than a normal 3 wood and was difficult for me to hit off the deck very well. So I was a little let down after that, until I hit the X2Hot 3 Wood by Callaway. It hit so well off the tee and gave me more distance than the Mini Driver which was very surprising to me. The true test came when I decided to try it off the deck. Obviously I gave up some distance, but it still launched very well off the deck and was very easy to hit. Hopefully, par 5's should be more manageable next season (Hopefully key word)! Decision was easy after that and I'm proud to have added the X2Hot to my bag. With the deals Dick's was running online at the time, I was able to get it for $160 and free shipping.

Big Break Myrtle Beach: Final Five

As someone who is learning the game of golf and quickly becoming obsessed, I started watching Big Break a few seasons ago. I can honestly say this is the only reality show I watch on TV! There's something about watching really good golfers that still make my kind of mistakes entertaining.

Last night I watched as Charlie 3 putted his way out of the $10,000 Super Immunity! I can't imagine the pressure of putting for $10,000 as an amateur, but wow that's just hurtful!

Also for those keeping up with the show, Anthony (The Bad Boy) is in the Final Four with a hell of a sand shot! Kid has no class, but has some major game!

My 30th Birthday Golf Trip!

My 30th Birthday was AMAZING to say the least! My beautiful wife surprised me with an awesome guys weekend with a trip to Athens, GA to play the University of Georgia Golf Course and The Georgia Club. Amazing courses and so much different terrain than what I'm used to in Northern Indiana. Our 1st stop was a Top Golf in Alpharetta, GA. If you have never been to a Top (Target Oriented Practice) Golf before then I highly recommend it. It would be a fun time with just the guys, solo practice, a date night, you name it it's fun!

As you can see from the photo above. It took the concept of bowling/bar/driving range into one. We had beer, great appetizers, football on the screen, and target golf in front of us. There were a number of games to be played on the computer. Each ball has a sensor in it and will register points based on how close you hit it to the pin. Very neat concept and affordable.

Our next stop on Friday morning was The Georgia Club. A beautiful golf community that I could see myself retiring at something like this someday. Great course with a lot of character. Unique sand traps on about each hole.

Finally Saturday morning was golf at the University of Georgia Golf Club. So much fun playing the course that Bubba Watson played in college. Long course with so many hills and narrow fairways.

Overall three great golf experiences on this golf trip! Next trip to this area I would love to hit up the courses at Reynolds Plantation!
